ATELIER C | ARCHITECTURE AS A WAY OF LIVING
Some residences are defined by their setting, others by their architecture. Atelier C brings both together. Set on nearly 3 wooded acres within Les Boisés de la Héronnière, near Spa Eastman, this LEED Platinum-certified residence offers a distinctly contemporary interpretation of country living.
From its inception, the project was conceived as a dialogue between architecture, creativity and landscape. Sculptural volumes open generously toward the forest, while expansive glazing allows the interiors to evolve with the changing light and seasons. Here, nature is not simply viewed; it becomes part of the architecture.
Materiality is central to the home's identity. Outside, cedar charred using the Japanese Shou Sugi Ban technique gives the residence its distinctive silhouette. Inside, white aspen, concrete and wood create a restrained yet warm palette. Lines are deliberate, details carefully resolved and materials are allowed to speak for themselves.
The intelligence of the design is equally present in what is less immediately visible. Passive solar principles, high-performance triple glazing, engineered wood and precision-fabricated structural components, together with a radiant-heated concrete slab, contribute to a design in which architectural expression and performance were developed as one.
Atelier C was also conceived as a place where living and creating naturally coexist. Spaces dedicated to work, creative pursuits, the workshop, fitness and recreation are integrated into the architecture rather than treated as afterthoughts.
The result is a singular property whose design has earned recognition beyond its immediate setting through publications devoted to architecture and design.
Atelier C does not attempt to reproduce the traditional country house. It offers another vision entirely: contemporary, considered and deeply connected to its surroundings.
For more specific information, please contact us. A 48-hour notice is required for a visit. Pre-authorization or bank letter required before confirming a visit.
